Joan C  Charland (Pendergrast)
Joan C. (Pendergrast) Charland, 78, of Templeton, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, November 22, 2017, in her son’s home.
Joan was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 19, 1939, the daughter of the late Richard and Agnes (Keenan) Pendergrast.
She was employed by the City of Templeton as a cafeteria worker at the Templeton Center School for several years. Joan also worked at the family business, A P Machine Company, Inc. of Templeton.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. Joan was also a member the Order of the Eastern Star.
Joan enjoyed playing Bingo, watching television and she adored her dog ‘Barney’.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Ronald J.A. Charland, who died in 2015.
Joan leaves one son, Al Charland of Templeton; two daughters, Kimberly Charland-Mustakangas of Baldwinville, and Kelly Henshaw and her husband Rob of Templeton; two brothers, James Pendergrast and his wife Judy of Bolton, CT and Richard Pendergrast and his wife Doris of PA; seven grandchildren, Luke L. Fletcher, Brooke Charland Fletcher, Josiah A. Henshaw, Julia R. Henshaw, Vivienne Charland Henshaw, and Tyler and Seth Langlois; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Randy Mustakangas and daughter-in-law, Nancy Ryder Charland.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 28th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton.
Calling hours will be Monday, November 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family would like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to Jackie Hill for her assistance in taking care of Joan during the past year.
