Florence A "Flo"  Duteau (Goguen)
Florence A. “Flo” (Goguen) Duteau, 93, of Gardner and Port Orange, FL, died peacefully Monday, June 26, 2017 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home of Gardner.
Born in Gardner on July 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Annie (Cormier) Goguen.
Prior to retiring, Florence was employed by the former JC Penney store of Gardner as a clerk for several years. Many years ago, she owned and operated Flo’s Yarn Shoppe on West Street in Gardner.
Florence was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
Florence enjoyed playing Bingo, golfing and bowling. She also enjoyed counted cross stitching and won several ribbons for her entries at both the Big E and the Spencer Fair. She and her husband were members of ‘Two Hearts as One’ square dancing club for 29 years. During their time spent in Florida, Florence and her husband organized and were members of ‘Gardner Day’, which was a day of gathering and sharing a potluck dinner for all residents of Gardner, MA who either retired or spent time in Florida.
Florence was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Romeo N. Duteau, who died August 20, 2006.
She leaves three sons, Ernest R. Duteau and his wife Kathy of Gardner and Daytona Beach, FL, Robert K. Duteau and his wife Carin of Townsend and Norman R. Duteau and his wife Lisa of Sedona, AZ; one brother, Roger Goguen of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Jeannette Artymovich of Port Orange, FL; four grandchildren, Lisa Comeau and her husband Randy, Becky McCaffrey and her husband Mike, Amy Gamble and her husband Chris, and Brienna Duteau; seven great-grandchildren, Christian and Alyson Comeau, Noah and Abby Johnson, Sean Patrick McCaffrey and Patrick and Benjamin Rolfe; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Alphonse Goguen.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Friday, July 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or to Holy Family Academy, both at 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440. Please reference in memory of Florence A. Duteau.
