Obituary for Camille J "Pete" Gallant

Camille J "Pete"  Gallant
Camille J. “Pete” Gallant, 82, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, June 4, 2017 in his residence surrounded by his family.
Camille was born in Barachois, N.B. Canada on March 30, 1935, the son of the late Albert and Vitaline (Melanson) Gallant.
He was employed by Collier-Keyworth Company of Gardner for 25 years, retiring in 1989. He was later employed by L. S. Starrett Manufacturing Company of Athol for 10 years, until 1999. Camille also worked at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham for 15 years until 2014, when he “officially” decided to retire.
Camille was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner, and the Acadien Social Club of Gardner.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his scooter around town. He loved to travel, and enjoyed his visits to Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, with his favorite journeys being Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and Alaska. Hockey was also his passion. He played hockey until the age of 75, was a certified referee for several leagues, and enjoyed watching hockey constantly on television. Camille also loved spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Agnes M. (Savoie) Gallant of Gardner; five sons, Donald J. “Dino” Gallant and his wife Dianne of Templeton, Thomas J. Gallant of Las Vegas, Nevada, Richard A. Gallant of Brookline, MA, Roland B. Gallant of Dunedin, Florida and Robert C. Gallant of Worcester; one daughter, Joanne M. Landry and her significant other, Joe Cote, Jr. of Gardner; one brother, Yvon Gallant and his wife Rollande of Fitchburg; two sisters, Alma Melanson of Gardner and Gloria Cormier of Gardner; three grandchildren, Bree-Ann Landry of Leominster, Katlyn Gallant of Templeton, and Thomas Gallant, Jr of Las Vegas, Nevada; one great-grandchild, Owen Pinder; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, James P. Gallant who died in 2010; two brothers, Ephrem Gallant and Ronald “Bill” Gallant; and one sister, Lillian Gallant.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 16th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner followed by funeral services with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be held at the Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
