Donald P "Don"  Tarr
Donald P. “Don” Tarr, Sr., died peacefully Sunday, May 20, 2018 in his residence, following an illness.
Don was born in Fitchburg on February 12, 1947, the son of the late George and Cecile (Bernard) Tarr.
He attended T.C. Junior High School of Fitchburg, and received his GED while serving in the United States Military. Don received his Associates Degree in 1972 from Fisher College of Boston.
He was a United States Vietnam War Marine Veteran, and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Service, Rifle Sharpshooters Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.
Don was a Chemical Engineer employed by Rockbestos Surprenant Cable Corporation of CT for 27 years, retiring in 2014.
He enjoyed hiking, motorcycle rides, fixing cars, and working with his hands. He loved spending time with his family.
Don leaves his wife of 49 years, Jane M. (Leblanc) Tarr of Gardner; one son, Donald P. Tarr, Jr. of Gardner; three daughters, Kelly Sanford and her husband Christopher of Indian Harbor Beach, FL, Heather Dancause and her husband Christopher of Lunenburg, and Megan Duval and her husband Tim of Lunenburg; three brothers, George Tarr and his wife Leilla of Gardner, Michael Tarr of Fitchburg and Charles Tarr; one sister, Beverly Lecier; four grandchildren, Joshua Price, Jack Dancause, Nathaniel Dancause and Lena Duval; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Francis Tarr; and four sisters, Nancy Green, Janette Stockwell, Peggy Hankley and Veronica Marino.
There are no services scheduled.
